Lengthen

When we “lengthen” a vessel, we basically make the vessel run more freely in the water, which reduces the amount of fuel burned.  The added length also tends to make the vessel more steady in the water.  The fish do not have the tendency to slosh around as much in the hold of a steadier vessel, so the quality of the fish delivered is much better.  With the addition of bin boards in the fish hold, the fish are further restricted in movement and the quality of the fish delivered is even better.  The increased capacity of the lengthened vessel makes the delivery runs less frequent and this also helps to keep from beating up the fish due to more frequent runs in choppy conditions.  Less trips to deliver fish also helps out in other ways.  With the vessel in its present condition, when fishing is hot the vessel can be loaded by mid day and a run to the tender is needed.  This run burns fuel and makes it necessary to re-chill the water in the hold for the next go around, which puts additional demand on the RSW system and additional fuel burn for the generators as well.  With the additional capacity due to lengthening you will be able to fish out the day and deliver one time at night.
