Research Vessel Nerissa is 58′ 8″ overall length and has a beam of 17′ 10″ and was built for the Orange County Sanitation District. It is powered by two marine diesels Caterpillar C-12 rated 570 HP @ 2300 RPM. Diesel generator is a Northern Lights 25 KW with sound shield. A Sea Recovery Aqua Whisper SRC AWC 400-1 water maker is installed. Fuel capacity is 1000 gallons in a single tank, tested and installed to USCG specifications. One 400 gallon stainless steel fresh water tank, 200 gallon black water tank and a 150 grey water holding tank provided. The aft deck has a pivoting aft A-frame fabricated out of 4 inch schedule 80 aluminum pipe with gussets and web stiffeners, hydraulically articulated and capable of lifting 2,000 pounds.  The A-frame will operate in conjunction with the trawl winch which is a Kolstrand design, 30 inch by 30 inch drum, furnished with 3000 feet of 3/8” stainless steel cable, and a high speed winch with 2000 feet of 3/16” cable.  A-frame and winches are capable of  operation using controls located at the aft deck station. There is also a Moran Marine articulating crane, model 300, 1,320 lb. capacity with 360 degree rotation and with local controls.
